Newell E. Bonds was born in Mosheim, Texas in Bosque county. He went to Bovina from Tulia in 1934 and farmed southwest of town. He later owned a service station in Bovina, selling the business to his son, but he continued to take an active interest in Bonds Oil Company for many years.
Mr. Bonds was a member of the First Baptist church and served on the school board in Bovina.
