Funeral services for James Lamar Collins of Winona will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14, at Oliver Chapel in Winona. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona,
with Masonic rites at graveside. Rev. David Rogers will officiate the services.

Visitation will be Monday, from 1:00 until service time, at the funeral home.

Mr. Collins died at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson Thursday, May 10. He was 89 years old.

Mr. Collins was the son of the late Joe Marlow Collins and the late Bessie Blaylock Collins Caddess, and the widower of the late Bonnie Matthews Collins. He was retired from Bellsouth after 32 years of service. Mr. Collins was a member and deacon of Bethlehem Baptist Church near Winona and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a 50-year member of the Winona Masonic Lodge #48, a 50-year Shriner, and a former member of the Wiinona VFW. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Nevel Collins.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Collins of Winona, Deborah Miller (Dennis) of Winona, and Bonnie Jo Collins of Grenada; two sons, James Michael (Linnie)Collins of Hallsville, Texas, and Larry Collins (Judy) of Winona; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Burney of Flowood; eleven grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Christopher Miller, Jason Miller, Daniel Collins, Jeremy Collins, and Shannon Collins; and a nephew, Myron Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Miller, Curtis Laney, Don Leonard, and Sean Malone.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 541 Lower Bethlehem Road, Winona, MS 38967.
