Alonzo was the son of Selah Austine and Emma Butterfield Fisk Bacon with sibling Nellie. His parents were from Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut and Stow, Washington County, Vermont. He also had half-siblings Harriet, Selah Austine (1833-1839), and Delissa by his father's first wife Delissa Alford. He married Nellie Whitlock Burgner on 22 November 1870 in Lucas County. They had a daughter Nettie. After Nellie's death in 1889, his second wife was Ella Thurston married on 22 October 1891 in Wood County. Alonzo was a farmer and the family lived at Bacon Landing near Grand Rapids, Ohio.
