Before retirement, he was a chief marine engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers and an engineer for the Indian River Medical Center Power Plant. He served in the Navy. He attended Our Savior Lutheran Church. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1952 in New Jersey, Loyal Order of the Moose and American Legion of Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carol; daughter, Jacquelyn Gilbert of Vero Beach; and one grandchild.
