Listed occupation as "sailor." Promoted to Corporal, May 15, 1863. Wounded in the right thigh above his knee at the Battle of Armstron's Hill, Nov. 25, 1863, during the Siege of Knoxville, TN. Spent three months in hospital at Knoxville before returning to duty. Voluntarily transferred to United States Navy, June 24, 1864. Served aboard the following ships: U.S.S. Great Western, N.C. Benton, General Putnam, Princeton. Rank: Seaman. Discharged July 17, 1865. Applied for an invalid pension Oct. 10, 1879 and it was issued. Widow's pension also applied for but information is incomplete. Also buried in plot are the following Cassidy family members: (1.) Joseph(a different one), died Aug. 7, 1904, Grave 1. (2.)
