Irene was the daughter of James Rex and Cora (nee Handwerk) of Emerald, PA. She and Russell were married Aug 1, 1925 in what my grand father says was a simple ceremony. They were married at the Parsonage of the Mennonite Brethern in Christ Church of Northampton, PA. She was a silk mill worker and then a homemaker. She and Russell had 6 children. She loved to cook and bake pies.
