Ella Mae Galloway Hanger died on Sunday, June 25 of pneumonia. She was born to Benjamin L. and Marie Watson Galloway in the Salt Lake City County Hospital on April 23, 1927. She went to work at 17 as a messenger in the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Communications Dept., and remained employed by the D & RG for 43 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Taylor English (Rex) of Lee's Summit, MO; and Jennifer Hanger of Salt Lake City; one granddaughter, Sarah Marie Kemp of MO; two sisters Marion Mendelsohn of Napa, CA; and Ruby J. Bounds (Jim) of Santee, CA; and one brother, Edward Galloway of Salt Lake City.
She is predeceased by her parents, husband Alston J. Hanger, five brothers and two sisters. She was loved and will be missed by her family, and friends at Mount Olympus Senior Center and the D & RG Ladies Auxiliary. Mom was a generous person, with a sharp wit and intellect who deeply loved her family.
A graveside gathering will be held Friday, June 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family requests no flowers. Funeral Directors Evans & Early.
