He was born February 6, 1914, in Madison County, Indiana, the son of Fred and Dessie (Conklin) Benefiel. Mr. Benefiel retired from Ball State University in 1978 as the Supervisor of Carpentry and Maintenance.
While living in this area Paul attended the Christian Congregation Church in Alexandria. He was a member of the Carpenters Union of Muncie and served as the Harrison Township Trustee for eight years.
Survivors include his dauguter, Karla Whitehair (husband, Mick), Englewood, Fl.; his son, Benny Benefiel (wife, Donna), Muncie; four grandchildren, Mark Benefiel, Monty Benefiel (wife, Kari), Rob Whitehair (wife, Kelli), and Tami Deckard; six great grandchildren, Allyssa Benefiel, Josh Whitehair, Kelsi Whitehair, Kassadi Whitehair, Mollee Whitehair, and Mick Deckard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen (Garner) Benefiel in 2000; three brothers, Bob, Albert, and Hershel Benefiel; and a sister, Beatrice Decker.
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Jerry Young officiating. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
