Blanc Ryder 59 Funeral Is Held
Estezimc (Blanc) Ryder 59-year-old rice farmer of the Lowery area and father of Mrs. A W Louviere was killed on Monday afternoon at 1:20 pm at the Southern Pacific Railroad's crossing on the Welsh to Thornwell road about 11 miles south of Welsh.
His pickup truck apparently collided with the eastbound diesel engine which was pulling only a couple of cars. The impact knocked the pickup truck into the ditch just southeast of the crossing causing fatal injury to Mr. Ryder who was well-known and respected in the Welsh area.

The Southern Pacific diesel came to a halt about 150 yards east of the crossing which is located just north of the east turn toward Thornwell.

Mr. Ryder was born at Basile on April 21 1899 and had farmed in the Lowery area for a number of years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Welsh.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning December 17 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh. Burial was in Welsh's Catholic Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Mathilda Ryder; by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Aurelian Ryder; by two daughters, Mrs. A W Louviere and Mrs. Terry Belssington; by four brothers, J S Ryder, Kenny Ryder, Pete Ryder and Orian Ryder; by three sisters, Mrs. Ned Nevilsr, Mrs. Joe Savant and Mrs. Orelia Fruge; and four grandchildren.
