Sarah was the first of seven children born to Robert Little and Margaret Pendry on August 1st, 1832 in Georgia.

She had not reach her thirteenth birthday when she married James Foster Davis in April 1845. She and James had the following six children before the Civil War.

Margaret Jane Davis, born 9 Oct 1846 in Stewart County, Georgia.
Henry Thomas Davis, born 1849 in Georgia.
Mary A. Davis, born 1852 in Georgia.
Harriet "Hattie" Davis, born 12 Nov 1854 in Stewart County, Georgia.
Frances "Fanny" Elizabeth Davis, born 1856 in Georgia.
Cullen F Davis, born 29 Apr 1859 in Alabama.

James went to serve the Confederacy during the Civil War in March 1862. He was captured at Atlanta during the Battle of Atlanta on 22 Jul 1864. He came back home to Sarah and the kids after his release from prison on June 8, 1865. They had two more children;

James P Davis, born Jul 1868 in Alabama.

The family moved to Galveston Texas in 1870 (after June 1870). They were living in Bastrop County Texas by 1873. Ten years later they moved to Milam County. James died there on April 6, 1884.

Sarah lived another thirty years, but did not remarry. She filed for her Confederate Soldier's Widow Pension on July 22, 1899. It was approved on October 12, 1899. Sarah died in or near the town of Milano in Milam County, Texas on July 31st, 1914.
