Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, James Floyd "Jim" Ence, 69, passed away peacefully, December 20, 2010 at his home in Richfield, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born in Richfield April 22, 1941 to Floyd William and Faye Belle Davis Ence. He married Dorothy Ann Dastrup, September 22, 1962 in Richfield. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. They enjoyed 48 years together.

Jim was an accomplished artist, creating custom knives that are known throughout the world. He is noted as being among the top ten knife makers in the world. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, but most of all, his greatest joy was being with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jim served his country as a member of the Utah National Guard for many years and served active duty in Puerto Rico during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He has also served 13 years with the Sevier County Search and Rescue and Jeep Posse.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Richfield; son Darren (Lisa) Ence of Central Valley and daughter, Cinda (Scott) Mason of Richfield; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Debbie (Terral) Dunn of Richfield and Barbara Jean Ence of California. Preceding him in death are his parents and sister, Beverly Ann Chavis.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the Richfield 15th LDS Ward Chapel, 200 East Center. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the ward chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30.
