She was born on May 29, 1918 in Newmansville, IL to Ezra and LouAnna Woodrum Pettit. She married Homer Pettit. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Leroy (Mary) Pettit of Petersburg and Floyd "Tip" Pettit of Ashland; three daughters, Betty (John) Downey of Sherman, Ann (Bob) Martin of Springfield, and Mary (Larry) Kahbeah of Tallula; two brothers, Chester (Barbara) Masten of Naperville, and James (Barbara) Masten of Tallula; a sister, Jeanne Wankel of Tallula; eighteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Her husband, a brother, and two sisters preceded her in death.
She worked for the Secretary of State for 40 years. She was a member of Church of Christ in Petersburg.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. Jon Bormann will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Menard County Food Pantry.
