Ada Virginia was the only daughter of George Nelson Bliss and Mina Belle Baker. Her only sibling, brother William Anson, died of pneumonia at age 16 at Staunton Military Academy in Virginia. Ada was born in Port Arthur and made her life there but she traveled, as well. On 12 March 1941 in her home town, Ada married Raymond Livy (Buck) Murray, who became a judge.
The couple had three children, the first, a daughter named Ada Bliss Murray, died in infancy in 1944. The next two were sons, George Bliss Murray (b. in 1945) and Raymond Bliss Murray (b. in 1948).
