Cavalier Rites Held Saturday
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock from St. Boniface Catholic Church in Walhalla for Israel Cavalier, 70, lifelong resident of the Leroy and Walhalla communities, who passed away Wednesday July 18 at St. Joseph Hospital in Grafton, where he had been a patient for some time. Mr. Cavalier had been in failing health for more then six years.
Rev Edward Frueh was in charge of the rites and burial was in the Church Cemetery. Nelson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Orville Bartlette, Andrew Hiebert, Ed Hiebert, Walter Rousseau, Nick Karel, and Lawrence Jackson.
Mr. Cavalier was born Aug 28, 1891 at Leroy, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Cavalier. He spent his early life in that community and married Clotile Houle in 1912. The family moved to Walhalla to make their home in 1948.
