William Robert Young was born at Marion, Virginia, January 6, 1847, and died on May 16, 1931 at Edgar, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 10 days. He was united in marriage to Samantha Blair on November 4, 1879 at Franklin Furnace, Ohio. To this union were born five children, three sons and two daughters, Mrs. Nora May Cherry of Salt Lake City, Utah: Charles William Young of Elm Creek, Nebr.; Mrs. Anna B. Burns of Denver, Colo.; Harry L. Young of Edgar, Nebr. and Frank who preceded his father to the Great Beyond.

In 1878, Mr. and Mrs. Young moved to Weeping Water, Nebraska, when they resided until twenty years ago when they moved to Edgar, Nebraska, where they lived the remainder of the time.

Although he had trials and sorrows in his married life during the years, yet he also knew its joys and blessings. He lived to a ripe age to see his children unto the fifth generation.

When a young man he joined the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Mr. Young was a man of cheerful disposition and his unique personality for him a host of near and dear friends. He loved the great outdoors and his haunts (sic) were numerous along the streams where he enjoyed to spend his time.

He leaves to mourn his departure besides his wife, children and grandchildren, many friends who have enjoyed his companionship.

Although he was a sufferer for a year, most of the time being confined to his home, he bore his suffering with patience.

Funeral services were held at the home, May 18, 1931, Rev T. S. Hughes pastor of the Presbyterian Church officiating, and the Presbyterian male quartet furnished the music. The floral offerings were beautiful.. Interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery.

The bereaved ones have the heartfelt sympathy of their host of friends.
