Thelma M. Bishard-Nowell, 88, of Edmond, OK passed away December 13, 2010 in Edmond. Thelma was born on December 16, 1921 in Comanche, OK to Simon M. and Lillie Mae Kennedy. Throughout her life, she worked as the chief operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Edmond and was also active in groups including the Odd Fellows Rebecca, Eastern Star and Southwestern Bell Pioneers. Thelma loved painting, gardening, playing bingo and card games. She is survived by two daughters, two sons, six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands Eugene B. Bishard and Word Nowell, grandson Yancy Cook and son-in-law Jim Paul. Services for Thelma were held December 16, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.
