She is survived by one son, Don Peterson, Mandan; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Herman Mosset, Linton; and two sisters, Lenora Glasser and Kathryn Bichler, both of Linton. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

Leona Peterson was born April 27, 1922 in Orin, ND, the daughter of Wendelyn and Mary Mae (Dietz) Mosset. She was raised and educated in Emmons County.
Leona married John Peterson on May 9, 1940 in Mound City, SD. Following their marriage they lived and farmed northwest of Pollock, SD.
In 1972 they moved to Linton where they owned and operated Papa John's Drive In. They moved back to Pollock in the late 1980s. They also ran a chuck wagon until retiring in 2001.
John and Leona then entered the Strasburg Care Center in September of 2001. John died on February 27, 2004. Leona enjoyed being known as the "Watkins Lady". She sold Watkins products for many years.
Leona enjoyed playing cards, especially gin rummy, crocheting, cooking and most of all spending time with family.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Don Peterson and Judy Umber of Mandan, ND; three grandsons: Nicholas (Jackie) Peterson, Daniel (Sheila) Peterson all from Gillette, WY and Douglas (Lyndel) Peterson of Pollock,; one granddaughter: Tori (Terry) Madden of Mound City, SD; 13 great grandchildren: Amanda, Nicole, Dani Mae, Nicholas, Charlie Rose, Derrick, Valerie, Austin, Shawna, Charles, Taylor, Bailey, and Mary Margaret; one great-great grandson: Cayden; one brother and sister-in-law: Herman and Lorraine Mosset of Linton; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Lenora and Joe Glasser and Kathryn and Alex Bichler all of Linton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter-in-law: Mary M. Peterson, grandson, Chuck Peterson, one brother, Wilfred Mosset, and one sister and brother-in law: Delia and Bob Kallock and brother-in-law. Jim Schmidt.
