Virginia Marie Maglott, age 87, of Bellville, passed away Friday morning, December 17, 2010 in Alterra Sterling House following a long illness.

She was born April 26, 1923 in Mansfield, the daughter of Lewis Aden and Mabel Jane (Palm) Spayde, and was graduated from Bellville High School.

On August 10, 1945 she devoted herself in marriage to Harold John Maglott, with whom she raised their family of six children.

Virginia was an ideal mother with her superb work ethic and great talents. She was a talented cook, a gifted seamstress, and enjoyed making crafts. Though rearing the children was a busy task, Virginia managed it all splendidly, keeping immaculate order to her home, and still found time to keep her beautiful flowerbeds.

Strong in her Christian faith, Virginia was a prayer warrior always including her family and friends in her daily devotions. She was even known to pray over the phone with her sister.

A student of music, Virginia played the piano well. She enjoyed and recognized some of her favorite church songs just this past week.

She is survived by her children and their spouses Patricia and Michael Stine of Bellville, Diane Schroer of Shelby, Karla and Tony Mateer of Olathe, Kansas, Holly and Steve Smith of Bellville, and Mark and Janine Maglott of Wooster, fourteen wonderful grandchildren, fourteen beloved great grandchildren, and a sister Joan Swank.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 2000, a son Jay Allen Maglott, four grandsons Brian, Michael and Steven Bradley Smith and John-Michael Stine; three sisters Mary Garber, Helen Dill and Mildred Bollinger; and a brother Russell Spayde.

Friends may call Monday, December 20, 2010 from 1-2:30 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm. The Rev. Dr. Michael V. Stine will officiate and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorial contributions in Virginia's memory to Hospice of North Central Ohio may be made through the funeral home.
