Walter Linwood "Hop" Hopkins Jr., age 88, of Erwin, born September 9, 1922, and passed away at 4:15PM Monday, December 13, 2010, at Erwin Health Care Center, where he was treated with so much love from all the staff.

He attended Canah Chapel FWB Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a retired carpenter.

He was the son of the late Walter and Lizzie Lasure Hopkins.

He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruby Hopkins, who died July 9, 1999; and 2 sisters, Peggy Mashburn and Ruby Hollifield; and 1 brother, Earl Hopkins.

"Hop" is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Beth Hopkins; his daughter, Susan Peake; grandson, Alan Hopkins; granddaughter, Sabrina Sutton; 4 great grandchildren, Brady Sutton, Haley Hopkins, Ethan Hopkins and Ezekiel Hopkins, all of Erwin; 2 sisters, Clarice Harris, of California, and Geraldine Bennett, of Greeneville; sisters-in-law, May McNally and husband, Lee McNally, of Erwin, Anna Lee Macrto and husband, Bill Macrto, of Alliance, Ohio, Hortensia Hopkins, of Washington County; brother-in-law, Ward Fender, of Unicoi.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7PM Thursday in the chapel of Robert Ledford Funeral Home. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel on Friday at 2PM for the committal services with Pastor Talmadge Brown officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5-7PM. Thursday preceding the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Unit of Erwin Health Care. Robert Ledford Funeral Home, 720 Ohio Ave, Erwin, TN, is in charge of the services.
