Albert married Nellie J Bowman January 1, 1913, in Mount Vernon, Lawrence County, Missouri. She is listed as his next of kin on his draft registration form, and he is listed as born about 1884 on his marriage certificate—Nellie is listed as age 18.
After his death, his widow Nellie married Davis Morehouse on September 22, 1923 in Carthage, Missouri. But the marriage did not last, and Nellie then married James “Jim” Farmer, on June 18, 1932, in Carthage.
There is no support for Albert and Nellie having had children. And no death certificate could be found for him, although there is an Oklahoma death record that indicated Albert R “McHaffir” died January 14, 1920 in Ottawa County, Oklahoma. However, Nellie is listed as a “widow” in the 1920 census, which could be accurate, or a euphemism for divorced or separated. Albert did work as a miner for the Golden Rod Mining Company in Picher, Oklahoma, when he registered for the draft in 1918.
Regardless of when he died, his remains rest peacefully now in Stone Cemetery. ~~mjp~~
