Woodrow F. Robinson , of Holly Grove, age 83, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at Glenwood Hospital in West Monroe. He was born October 2, 1917 to Ivy Robinson and Florence Eldora (Morrison) Robinson in Jefferson Spur, AR.
Mr. Robinson joined the United States Army, March 18, 1941, where he became a Medical Technician, served in the battles and campaigns of Rhineland and received a World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, American Defense Service Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon. One Bronze Service Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and GO 23 Hq USAFFE 45 AP Theater Ribbon.
Upon his return in 1946, he and his sweetheart, Jewel Elmer were married in Holly Grove, AR. The couple made their home at Maddox Bay, where he was well known for his ability to repair small engines for all his friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his dear sweet and beautiful wife, Jewel Elmer Robinson
Mr. Robinson is survived by one sister, Dora Lee Cook, of Oak Grove; one nephew, E. L. Cook and wife, Carolyn, of Oak Grove; two half-brothers, Pete Robinson and wife, Annette, and Ivey Robinson and wife, Irene, all of Oak Grove; three half-sisters, Erma Ivey, Mary King and Nancy McIntire, all of Oak Grove; and other relatives that loved him very much, Debbie and Ricky Mobley, of West Monroe and Robin Cook, of West Monroe; Katherine and Donnie Stutts, Krystal and Joey Collum, Clarence Cook and Kenneth Stanford, all of Oak Grove; and two special 2-year-olds that had fallen in love with Uncle Woody, Patience Collum and Gabriel Stutts, of Oak Grove.
Graveside services, with full military honors, were held Sunday, January 28, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Franks Cemetery in Holly Grove with the Reverend Jerry Hoper officiating.
Pallbearers were the Army Honor Guards.
Arrangements were under the direction of Brown Funeral Home of Clarendon.
