Philip Abraham "Abey" Jenkins was born on 12 Dec 1864 in Tuskeegee, Cherokee County, (now Graham County), North Carolina. He is the son of William Abraham "Abram" Jenkins and Sarah Jane Loving.

He married Victoria Jane Dehart on 3 Aug 1884 in Stecoah, Graham County, North Carolina, He lived to see 6 of his 7 children born.

He was killed April 29, 1900 by the Carver Brothers on Panther Creek in Graham County. His wife, Victoria was pregnant with Earie Elva, his youngest daughter, when Abey died. Abey is buried in the Hazie Brown Cemetery in Stecoah, Graham County, NC. The epitah on his original stone read "May the resurrection Find Thee on the Bosom of Thy God."
