Hopkins, Catherine Christine

Word has been received in Rosenberg of the death of Mrs. Catherine Christine Hopkins of San Antonio, bur formerly of Rosenberg. Mrs. Hopkins passed away Friday, May 14, 1943, in Mercy Hospital, Liberty, Texas, after an illness of six weeks.

Mrs. Hopkins was born on February 8, 1879, in Kansas City, Missouri. She came to Texas a number of years ago, living with her husband and children in Rosenberg for a number of years before going to San Antonio to live. Her husband preceded her in death several years ago.

Deceased is survived by four daughters, Mrs. I.T. Trexlr of Bogue, Kansas, Mrs. Corbin Williamson of Liberty, Mrs. A.E. Priest of Orchard and Mrs. P.O. Brannam of Gladewater; three sons, J.J. Hopkins of El Paso, B.P. Hopkins of Aransas Pass and T.P. Hopkins of Pasadena; two sisters, Mrs. John Bohumel of Kansas City, Missouri and Mrs. Will Turner of McPherson, Kansas; sixteen grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

A short funeral service was held at the Catholic Church in Liberty, at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 1943, with Father Black in charge of the service. Pallbearers were A.J. Hartell, Gus DeBlanc, Alfred Palma, John Onderka, Bud Van Deventer and Frank Osbolt, all of Liberty. The body was shipped to San Antonio by the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home of Liberty. Funeral services in San Antonio were held at Zzik-Kearns Chapel, with internment in San Franando.

The host of friends of the Hopkins family in Rosenberg, extend sincere sympathy to them in their hour of sorrow.
