Abraham is the son of Aaron Sours, born 1816 Virginia.

He grew up in Indiana where he answered Lincoln's call for soldiers in the Civil War.

He served with the 9th Indiana Infantry, Co G. He applied for a pension in 1890.

He married Mary Marshall in 1866.

Abraham lived for many years in Chandlerville, Cass Co, IL. There he raised his family and practiced his profession as a harness maker. He also worked for the railroad as he stated on his 1880 federal census.

In 1900, his daughter Barbara and her children were living with Abraham and Mary. Barbara was estranged from her first husband Wm Clarence Hamilton at the time.

Abraham was living in Lincoln IL in 1911 with his daughter Barbara and her second husband Barney Wiebbold. That same year he was admitted to the VA hospital in Danville IL. He stayed there until his death with the exception of a couple weeks.

When he was admitted to the hosptial, it is listed that he was absent a right leg. I do not know how if this was a war injury or unrelated to that.

Abraham became ill in 1922 and passed at the VA hospital. He is buried in the Danville National Cemetery. Many other Indiana veterans of the Civil War are buried there.

Abraham has 3 brothers buried in Chandlerville Cemetery. Rev. Wm Riley Sours, John, and Michael. Michael served with the 29th Indiana, Co F.
