From the Reading Eagle, Jan. 11, 1916:
Kutztown, Jan. 11 (Special) - William A. Angstadt died Monday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. at his home, in Brooklyn, a suburb of Kutztown. Blood poisoning, which developed from a scratch, was the cause of death. He was ill a week. His age was 71 years, 7 months and 28 days.

He is survived by his widow, Rebecca (nee Stimmel), and the following children: Jeremiah S., Hellertown; Edwin, Bridgeport; Preston, this borough; Milton, Reading, and Lizzie, wife of W. H. Scholl, Hellertown. Samuel Angstadt, of Reading, is a brother. Deceased was a son of the long-deceased Gideon K. Angstadt and his wife, Elizabeth (nee Angstadt), and was born in Rockland township.

He served four years in the Civil War. For a year he acted as substitute for an older brother. Later he served as an enlisted man for three years. He was a prominent figure each year at the local Memorial Day celebrations and was familiarly known as "captain." He possessed many good qualities and had a large number of friends.

Deceased was a member of the Reformed congregation of New Jerusalem Church, Rockland. Funeral Thursday, Jan. 13, at noon, at the house. Services and interment at the New Jerusalem Church, Rockland. Rev. I. S. Stahr, of Oley, will officiate. Funeral Director, William Fritz.
