He was born July 17, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Eugene Hawkins and Effie Labram.
He was raised in Murray and attended Murray High School, where he excelled in sports. He took state in Football, Track, and Baseball and played varsity basketball. He later attended the University of Utah on a football scholarship.
On June 28, 1958, he married Evelyn Schoenfeld. He worked for the Department of Transportation for thirty-eight years as an engineer.
He loved to travel, hunt, shoot trap, and hike. He was well known as an AKC judge. He and Evelyn raised, and showed German Shepherd dogs and had fifteen champions. He thoroughly enjoyed life, family and hobbies. He was foremost a great and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. We will miss him every day.
He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; son, Brandon James Hawkins; daughter, Lori Allison Hawkins; and five grandchildren, Ashley Whipple, Nicholle Hawkins, Emma Hawkins, Micah Hawkins, and Julianne Peck.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Estates Mortuary, 3115 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South), Cottonwood Heights, with a viewing one hour prior to the services.
Interment will immediately follow the services.
