BIO by: Nita Stolns. Alexander Adams was born in Fountain County, Indiana to the parents of Roger Adams (1806 - 1887) and his wife Elizabeth Barkshire 'Adams' (1810 - 1893). He was the first born of seven siblings**
John: 1836 - 1917. He was a Civil War Vet, 72nd Indiana Volunteer

Alex signed up in the Civil War on Oct 4th 1861 in Company F. 6th Kansas Calvary as a Private, mustered out on 18 July 1865 as a Captain in DeVall's Bluff, AR. He did not marry until after he was out of the Civil War, marrying at the age of 33 to Agnes Elizabeth Ross on November 18th 1867. Agnes passed 2 years later of T.B. on the 21st of December 1869. She is buried in a unknown grave?

He next marries at the age of 40 to widowed Louisa Jane Spurgeon in 1874. Her first husband Francis Spray: Born in Germany( 1836 - Aug 28th 1864, in Bear Ford in Virginia) He passed in the Civil War while in Virginia, leaving her a Widow having had two children, a son John and a daughter Frances "Frannie". John may have passed soon after birth as no records surface of him. Together they had a daughter Jessie Love: 1875 - 1936. By this time Alex has moved to Colorado where he makes that his permanent home. Together they own and operate a beautiful large Motel in Grand Lake, Colorado. Alex then become's a Postmaster in Grand Lake starting in July 1889. He then passes in January the 18th in the year 1911 and is buried in the Colorado State Vet. Center at Homelake Cemetery in Monte Vista, Rio Grand County, Colorado. His wife Louisa moved to Denver after his passing and lived to be 100 years old. Her daughter Fannie (by Louisa's first marriage) had her remains shipped to her family cemetery in Salina, Salina County, Kansas. She outlived her husband Alex by 29 years.
