When Brad's mother died in 1928, he and his siblings lived in the DePelchin Children's Home until being taken in by Mr. and Mrs. Martin F. Cochelle of Houston remaining under their foster care until Brad's graduation from Milby High School.
Brad served in the US Navy in the South Pacific from 1944 to 1946. Upon returning from the war in 1947, Brad worked at Houston Bank and Trust where he met the love of his life Doris (Toby) Adams and they were married June 12, 1948.
In 1949 while attending a Billy Graham revival Brad accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and dedicated his life to God. Brad and Toby attended Broadway Baptist Church until moving to Pearland in 1961 where they attended the First Baptist Church of Pearland. Brad was very active in the church teaching young married couple's classes and was a dedicated Christian witness. In his later years, he and Toby were members of Shadycrest Baptist Church.
Brad worked in the petro-chem construction, fabrication and engineering business in many different roles but primarily as an estimator. He was loved by many friends and his family, and will be missed dearly.
Brad is survived by his wife, Doris (Toby) Ottosen; sons, Bradley and wife Peggy, Jeffery, Lanny and wife Carla and Joel and wife Jamie; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Charles and his twin Bedeford Ottosen, Find A Grave Memorial# 28447076, in Houston National Cemetery; and sisters, Vera Irene Riseling and Bobbie Nan Bennett.
Family will receive friends and extended family on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, TX 77546.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Daily officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, TX at a private service for immediate family.
