Born September 22, 1932 in Lagrange, GA, Mrs. Byrd was the daughter of the late John Pinson Wingo and the late Hazel Morgan Wingo. She was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church and worked for several years as a nurse. Mrs. Byrd was a gracious southern lady and incredible cook and hostess who still set a formal dining room table for family gatherings. She enjoyed traveling abroad in Europe and closely followed the royal family. Among her many craft talents were painting, scrapbooking, and making pottery. Mrs. Byrd also played and taught piano, and enjoyed cuckoo clocks. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her son, Phillips Stanton Byrd.
Survivors include her daughter, Carrie-Anna Byrd; her grandchildren, Charles and Mary Beth Byrd and Katherine Byrd Palmer and husband Michael; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Hillcrest Cemetery, officiated by The Rev. Jason Collins. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.
