On the 1870 South River, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found farmer A A Mcclung (Ancestry indexes Mcclune), 40; other McClungs: Esteline (hard to read) M, 41; Marytah (? hard to read), 11; Bettie M, 9; Phoebe W, 7; Maggie S, 5; James W, 4; Benjamin F, 2 and Sallie Tate, 70, all Virginia born.
Estaline Montgomery Willson McClung, Jun 1829 - 5 Oct 1876. Source of burial here was the Rockbridge County, Virginia Cemeteries, South River and Walker Creek Districts, by the Rockbridge Area Genealogical Society, 1999.
"Samuel Wilson's daughter, Esteline (sic) Montgomery Willson married Andrew McClung on May 29, 1856. Her father, Samuel Willson (died 1866) was the son of James Willson (died 1811), who was the son of Col. John Wilson (member of the House of Burgesses, died 1773) and his wife Martha (died 1775), were buried at the Glebe. More details in this source (at the Library of Virginia). James Willson McClung's 5 Mar 1938 Works Progress Administration of VA Historical Inventory #352, surveyed the Glebe Burying Ground and used other existing sources. He believed there were about 50 graves there but only 12 could be deciphered (14 in source) in 1938.
