DUENWEG, MO — Louise Jarvis, age 86, of Duenweg, passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010. Louise was born Feb. 18, 1924, in the Scotland community, east of Duenweg, the daughter of George and Hulda Endicott. Louise lived in the Scotland/Duenweg communities her entire life. She graduated from Duenweg High School in 1942, and was employed at Junge Bakery, Miller Manufacturing, and Meekers during World War II. She was also a cook at Washington Elementary School in the Joplin School District for many years. Louise was a Crosslines of Joplin volunteer from its inception and also volunteered at American Rehabilitation Ministries for many years. Louise was a member of the Diamond Grove Christian Church until 1959, when she and her family joined the Duenweg Christian Church, where she remained a faithful member until her death. In 1981, Louise and her husband Earl retired and enjoyed working on arts and crafts with cousins, fishing and camping with family and friends and spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Louise was married to Earl Jarvis Nov. 30, 1944, in Columbus, Kan., and recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Together they lovingly raised two children, a daughter, Susan Ideker and husband, Darrell, Joplin; and a son, Michael Jarvis, Webb City; three grandchildren, Joseph Ideker and wife, Cindy, Amy Cook and husband, Jarrett, and Jaxon Ideker and wife, Krista, all of Joplin; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Betty Marshall, Girard, Kan., and Mildred Endicott, Scotland; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nadine Beckett and Ada Salsman; and one brother, Arthur "Bud" Endicott. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Duenweg Christian Church with Pastor Jeff Kingery officiating. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 Tuesday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Memorial contributions are requested to the Duenweg Christian Church or your favorite charity.
