MAN WHO CAME TO OREGON IN 1858 DIES

Another Oregon pioneer has passed away, Joseph Lemery, of Oswego, who came to this state in 1858, died at his home July 8 (the death certificate says the 9th) at the age of 72 years. Mr. Lemery left Michigan in the spring of 1854, crossing the plains. He went to California and lived there until 1858, when he came to Oregon.

At the age of 21 he was married to Esther Vandale, and six children, all of whom survive him, were born. They are; Mrs. J.B. Hill, Oswego, Or., Mrs. T. H. Leith, Woodburn, Or., Mrs. G. E. Thomas, Oswego, Or., Mrs. H. Murphy, Portland, Mrs. A.F. Plenkner, Boise City, Idaho, and Frank Lemery of Portland.

In 1896 Mr. Lemery was married to Mrs. Margaret Waters at Oswego, his first wife having died. Of this union he is survived by his wife, Mrs. J. Lemery and a son, Louis Lemery.

The furneral services will be held at the Sacred Heart parish church in Oswego by Father Wager. The remains will be interred in Gervais, Or., near his old home.
