On December 2, 1960, she married Franklin D. Lemon in Grand Junction, Colorado. Leona and Frank shared a love of the Utah desert, traveling and rockhounding for over 30 years. Their yard was filled with trophies from their outings, and they loved to share with others, hoping that someday the collection of rocks and fossils would be put in a museum so that more people could learn and love what the desert could teach.
Leona was cremated and her ashes buried next to Eva Shomaker, Franklin D. Lemon's first wife. Frank was later buried beside them.
