Dorsey W. Edwards, 69, died Friday at Candler General Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness. The Jenkins County native lived in Bulloch County most of his life. He was a WWII veteran retired from Savannah Machine and Foundary Company. Mr. Edwards was a member of the New Providence Baptist Church and the Shrimp Creek Hunting Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Reba S. McNure Edwards of Nevils; two sons, John A. Edwards of St. Marys and Carl E. Edwards of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; four daughters, Mrs. Barbara Flake of Brooklet, Mrs. Jo Ann Bewen of Kingsland, Mrs. Kay Casey of Orlando, and Mrs. Sherry Morgan of Tybee Island; two stepsons, Harold McNure of Statesboro and William F. McNure of Metter; seven sisters, Mrs. Lillian Funderburke of Pahokee, Fla., Mrs. Louise Dunford of Mulberry, Fla., Mrs. Myra Toole of Uvalda, Mrs. Sadie Taylor and Mrs. Tressie Olliff, both of Plant City, Fla., Mrs. Judy Veal of Guyton and Mrs. Ethel Ethridge of St. Augustine, Fla.; three brothers, Huey Edwards of Hilliard, Fla., Virgil Edwards of Mulberry, Fla., and Dan Edwards of Lakeland, Fla.; thirteen grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mr. Edwards will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of the Smith-Tillman Mortuary with the Rev. Roger Browher, the Rev. Dan Fogel, and the Rev. Talmadge Aldridge conducting the service. Burial will be in the Brooklet City Cemetery.

Smith-Tillman Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
