Mr. Thomas Joseph Strother, 50, of 1671 Goshen road, Augusta, Georgia, entered into rest Thursday, April 27, 1978, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Poteet Funeral Home South Chapel with the Rev. Robert Boyd officiating. Interment will be in Westview cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis Cadell Timothy N. Adams, Hick Stone, Billy Hughes, Norman Padgett and Leroy E. Sims. A native of Waynesboro, Ga., he had lived in Augusta most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a Baptist. He was a retired employee at Deerfield Specialty Company. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Vivian Veal Strother, Augusta; four daughters, Mrs. JoAnn Hershey, Delphos, Ohio, Mrs. Lynn Shirey, Miss Nancy Strother and Miss Peggy Strother, Augusta; one son, Richard Strother, Augusta; one sister, Mr. B.D. (Elizabeth) Ross, Augusta; and two brothers, James F. Strother and Clarence B. Strother, Augusta.
