Times Record 4-9-1903 OBITUARY

Cora, the wife of E.J. Histed, was born on Buffalo Prairie, November 18, 1867, and died at her joy in Joy, April 2, 1903. The deceased was the youngest child of Joshua & Eliza Jack. She was united in marriage with E.J. Histed, August 26, 1896, at Marengo, Iowa. To this union was born one daughter, Letha, who died in infancy. While quite young she united with the M.E. church and remained a devout Christian until her death. She was a devoted wife, a kind and loving sister, and was always ready to share others' troubles. She had been a constant sufferer for years but was always patient and kind and thoughtful for others' welfare. Her pain was never too great to sympathize with others in their afflictions. She was a tried and true friend and had a good kind word for all. Most of her life was spent in Joy or vicinity and she will be sadly missed by her friends and neighbors. She leaves to mourn her loss, a heart-broken husband, five brothers and two sisters. Her mother, five sisters and a brother have passed on before her. Mrs Emma Hunt, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, was the only one of her brothers and sisters who attended the funeral. The sympathy of the community is with the husband and sister in their sad bereavement. But all was done that human hands could do to lighten her suffering. Funeral services were held in Joy M.E. church on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev W.H. Craine.
