Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda Matheny will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Chapel, Crimora, by the Rev. R D. McNeer. Burial will be in Forest Chapel cemetery.
She was the widow of George Matheny.
Mrs. Matheny was 77 years old when she died following a long illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Homer Lawrence, in Oak Hill. She was born September 30, 1870, in Floyd County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Reynolds.
Surviving are six children, Clinton Sutphin of Hagerstown, Md.; Mrs. Lillie Miller, of Richmond; Mrs. Polly Conrad of Roanoke; Mrs. Annie Owens and Mrs. Cora Baker of Pulaski, and Mrs. Homer Lawrence of Oak Hill. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Matheny has lived in the Oak Hill community for the last 17 years and was a member of the Methodist church.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Zarubua, Harry Lotts, J. W. Taylor, W. L. Lawrence, W. E. Terrell, and J. W. Painter. Flower girls are Miss Peggy Painter, Miss Glenna Zaruba, Mrs. Thelma Doyle, Mrs. Catherine Hubble, Mrs. Ruby Terrell, and Miss Viola Taylor.
Remains will rest at the home of Mrs. Homer Lawrence until the hour of service.
