Davis (David) Catlin was born in Madison County, Indiana on September 14, 1831 and died in Portland on December 27, 1896; aged 65 years, 3 months and 13 days.
He was married to Miss Malinda McFall at Anderson, Indiana in the year 1862. To them were born 16 children, only 7 of them survive both father and mother. The mother died March 9, 1888.
On September 6, 1862, he was again married, and this companion with one child born to them, today mourns her loss.
In the time of his country’s peril, he offered himself as a soldier in the Army of the Republic and was enrolled in Company G, 12th Indiana Volunteers in the year 1862, and gave 3 years and 7 months to the nation.
He was wounded 5 times yet not unto death, but was honorably discharged and returned to his home and family with broken health.
He was an honored member of the G.A.R. under whose auspices these services were held.
Death came sudden and without warming.
Funeral services under the auspices of the G.A.R. were conducted by Rev. L. M. Krider at the M.E. Church on Tuesday at 2 o’clock and the interment was made at Green Park Cemetery.
