MANTEO - Mary Marion Beer, 80, died Sunday, December 3 in a Nags Head nursing
home. Mrs. Beer, born in Mt. Airy, was a homemaker and former secretary and a
member of Manteo Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Christopher C. and Lottie Short Marion and the
widow of the late John Albert Beer.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara B. Waterhouse and husband Everett of Kill
Devil Hills; three brothers: Richard Marion and wife Lucille, Roger Marion and
wife Dorthea, and Jasper Lee Marion and wife Jean, all of Mt. Airy; three
sisters: Irene Simmons and husband Thurman of Mt. Airy, Louise Jasper and
husband Paul of Virginia Beach, Va. and Janie Browne and husband David of
Bristol, Tenn.; two grandchildren: Christy and Joshua Wescott, both of Raleigh;
a step-daughter, Dorothy McLean of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a step-son, John Beer of
Alexandria, Va.
Funeral services will be held at Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo on Wednesday,
Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Davenport and the Rev. Bruce Warrington
officiating. Burial will be in the Cudworth Cemetery, Wanchese. The family
will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 p.m.
Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo, is handling arrangements.
