John Oyler married Ann Sayer 25 Dec 1837 Saint Mark, Kennington, London, England.

The first 6 of his 7 children were born in England arriving between 1855 and 1858 in the U.S. His parents were already here and living in Tippecanoe Co. Indiana where he brought his family to live for a few years. After the Civil War he headed to Southwest City, McDonald Co. Missouri where he remained until he died. Ann died not long after their arrival in Missouri and he married a 2nd time to Mrs Jane Marshall 15 Jan 1872.

Their children were John Edward Oyler; Mary Oyler, wife of Maxwell Layton & Fielding Gonce; Alfred Orum; Samuel; Charles; Henry W; and William F. William was the only one born in the U.S. after their arrival in Tippecanoe Co. Indiana.

Most of the children had fairly large families and some only a few. Many of John's descendants intermarried with the Indians in Oklahoma and settled there. A few stayed in McDonald County and a few to Kansas.

John was the oldest of 6 children of Samuel Oyler and Sophia Rabson.

His siblings were Elizabeth Oyler, wife of Charles Wright; Colonel Samuel Petit Oyler, Charlotte L Oyler, wife of Silas Shaffer, Sophia Oyler, and Eliza wife of Henry Lindsay.
