Esther Hammer, daughter of Pontus and Ingeborg Ross was born March 31,
1888, on a farm near Lovewell, Kans., and died June 14, 1983, at the Sunset Nursing
Home, Concordia, at the age of 95 years, two months and 13 days.
She attended grade school in the Lovewell community.
January 3, 1917, she was united marriage to Alfred Hammer, and to this
union four daughters were born. They established their home on a farm near
Norway.
Mrs. Hammer was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Norway.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on October 8, 1964, nine
brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by four daughters: Naomi Barleen of Concordia, Evelyn
Wagor of Loveland, Colo., Elnora Whitney of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Roger (Anita)
Coppage of Haysville, Kans.; a step-daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Hammer of
Atlanta, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Anna Graham
of Webber.
Funeral services were held June 17 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Norway,
with Intern Kinn Nilsen officiating. Burial was in the Norway Cemetery.
