John J. Wisneski, 79, of Phoenixville

John J. "Jack" Wisneski, 79, husband of Dorothy A. (Ferko) Wisneski of Phoenixville, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 in Phoenixville Hospital.

Born in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late John and Josephine (Lapinski) Wisneski.

He served in the United States Army Air Force during the Korean War.

He retired from the former Phoenix Steel Corporation, Phoenixville, then worked for Protect-A-Life in Audubon. In the Phoenix Steel Workers Union he held various offices including president.

He was a member of Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, Phoenixville, and served as president of Holy Ghost Church Consistory and was also board member.

He was president of the former St. Michael's Athletic Club. He was a life member of the Polish American Citizens Club in Phoenixville and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1564, Phoenixville.

He was a talented woodworker who enjoyed sharing his work with churches, family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 54 years are a son, John M. "Jack" Wisneski of Phoenixville, a daughter, Juli Anne, wife of Paul Metcoskie of Pottstown, a daughter, Becky, wife of Tom Quigg of Royersford; six grandchildren, Jon, Tami, Greg, Nick, Kelly, Jamie; three great-grandchildren, Caroline, Genevieve, Jack; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Mastrangelo, and Helen Farino; two brothers, Michael Wisneski and Vincent Wisneski.

A viewing will be held at the Devlin-Rosmos-Kepp Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at Holy Ghost Orthodox Church on Thursday morning from 9 to 9:45 a.m.

Panchida for Eastertide will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Divine Liturgy in the Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, Bridge and Starr streets, Phoenixville, on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. Liturgy will be officiated by Father John Fedornock and Father David Mahaffey.

Burial will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery, Mont Clare.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 625 West Ridge Pike, Suite A100, Conshohocken, PA 19428. Condolences may be given at www.devlinrosmoskepp.com.
