Mrs. Morris died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, in Shattuck.
Burial will take place at Post Oak Cemetery under the direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.
She was born July 2, 1925, in Indiahoma to Jacob "Pete Coffey" Tahchawwickah and Maggie Niedo and was raised in the Indiahoma and Cache area. She attended Cache Public Schools.
She was a member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma and the First Church of the Nazarene, Cache, where she served many positions at the church.
She married Curtis F. Burgess Sr. in Lawton, and they had nine children together. She later married Bill Morris, Indiahoma, and they had one son.
Mary enjoyed working and spending time with her family and friends. Her fondest memories came from the "Sister Time" she spent with her loving sisters making quilts, speaking Comanche and eating watermelon. She also loved to work in the yard gardening and tending her flowers.
Survivors include five daughters: Donzetta Ikner, Indiahoma; Marcelia Johanson and Karen Mattia, Claremore; Amelia Sipe, Shattuck; Janice Turtle, Tulsa; three sons: Curtis Burgess, Cache; Armand Burgess, Snyder; Fagan Morris, Muskogee; four sisters: Velma Kimble, Ponca City; Marguerite Parker, Rose Nauni, and Helen Cable, all of Cache; two brothers: Pete Coffey, Jr., Ponca City; Nick Tahchaw-wickah, Cache; 23 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two children: Roberta Rosemark and Gayla Coulston; two sisters: Vida Woommavovah and Sarah Tahchawwickah; and a brother, Allen Tahchawwickah.
Visitation is set for today from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, west of Cache.
