Julius Caesar "Jule" MITCHELL, son of Captain Julius Caesar MITCHELL and Georgia E. FLEWELLEN was born 8 October 1868, originally named Walter Flewellen MITCHELL. To honor his father after his death, Walter changed his name to Julius Caesar according to Fannie Phillips MITCHELL, contributor to the "History of Hancock County, Georgia." A "typo" in this book says he died about "1820". "EARLY GEORGIA PORTRAITS 1715-1870," p. 166, records that Walter was "Jule Carne MITCHELL" and provides 1916 for his death. Julius married Ellen Jane HARDIN. They lived in Columbus, Georgia where he worked as a broker until his death. [Note: Julius was not the only child of Julius and Georgia. They had two daughters, Edna and Berta who died young between 1870 and 1880.]
