Verdie Boudreaux Leger, 84, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, in St. Agnes Nursing Home in Breaux Bridge.
She was a native of Cankton. She was employed at Trappey's as a canner. She was a parishioner of St. Jules Catholic Church of Lafayette.
Survivors include four daughters, Nell Rose Thibodeaux and husband Linis of Church Point, Gloria Dean Moreau and husband Levorel of Lake Charles, Elaine Marie Thibodeaux and husband William of Lafayette, and Phyllis Menard and husband Andy of Houston; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Virginia Mire and husband Percy and Hazel Prejean and husband Alibe, all of Mire.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Leger; one son, John Eldridge Leger; one grandson, Ray John Moreau; her parents, Morris Boudreaux and the former Alice Roy; four brothers, Arcin Boudreaux, Cyrus Boudreaux, Freddie Boudreaux and Joseph Emery Boudreaux; and three sisters, Lucille Lavergne, Bertha Stelly and Julia Albarado.
Her funeral will be at 4 p.m. today, Dec. 11, from St. John Berchman Catholic Church. The Rev. Mario Romero will officiate. Musical selections, provided by Valarie Andrus, will be "Amazing Grace," "Notre Pere," "Hail Mary," "Gentle Woman" and "On Eagle's Wings."
Burial will be in St. John Berchman Church Cemetery in Cankton under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro.
