Ella 'Katherine' Babb Price Bowen, age 95, of Douglasville, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010.
She was born on November 8, 1914, in Pickens County, Alabama, to the late Joel Austin Babb and Nellie Grace Babb. She was a retired clerk/typist of the US Army Civil Service. Katherine was the oldest female member of Sunset Hills Baptist Church where she was renowned for wearing her flamboyant hat collection and was affectionately referred to as the "Queen."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Bowen in 2000, and husband and father of her children, John B. Price in 1970, sons, Charles R. Price, John A. Price, sister and her husband; Elizabeth and James Price, grandson, Aaron G. Price.
Survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law: Joel and Phyllis Price of Douglasville, Jim and Angela Price of Jacksonville, FL; daughter-in-law: Alene Price of San Antonio, Texas; sister: Nomie Lee Flynn of Sulligent, AL; brother and sister-in-law: Stanley and Polly Babb of Chattanooga, TN. Grandchildren and their spouses: Russell and Claudia Price, Sharon and Andy Rivette; Vickie and Steve Persad , Steven Price, Jennifer Miller, Joel Price, Sandy Price, Kay Price, Danny Price, Bo Price, Brent Price and Brad Price as well as several great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010, at 11am from Hightower's
Memorial Chapel with Reverend Stephen Williams and Rev. R.C. Ikey Watson, officiating. Interment will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010, at 4:30 EST in the Greenhill Memorial Gardens, 2145 Hwy 82, Reform, Al. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 3, 2010, from 5-8 pm. at the funeral home. Hightower's Memorial Chapel and Cremation Service, Douglasville, has charge of arrangements.
