Services were held at New Chapel east of Nettleton on September 16, 1947 for N. C. Patterson, retired farmer, who died at Evergreen on Sept. 15th at 4 o'clock. He was 76. Burial was in the New Chapel Cemetery with Pickle Funeral Home of Amory in charge. He was a member of the New Bethany Presbyterian Church of Evergreen, and was one of the community's leading and most respected citizens. He died of bronchial trouble and pneumonia.

He leaves his wife; four sons, L. N. Patterson of Birmingham, John and Carl Patterson of Evergreen, and Aubrey Patterson of Tupelo; three daughters, Mrs. S. P. Turman of Tupelo, Mrs. Tracy Armstrong and Miss Erma Patterson of Evergreen; three brothers, Wood Patterson of Okolona, Otto Patterson of New Chapel and Charlie Patterson of Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Blaton of Brewer, and Mrs. Pearl Temple of Nettleton.

Pallbearers were: John Melvin Patterson, William Armstrong, Ershell Patterson, Charles Patterson, Murl Patterson and Dallas Turman.
