ARRON HIGBEE - OBITUARY
ARRON HIGBEE DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS
Aaron Higbee was on the job as usual as town marshal last Friday, but was forced to go home because of a severe headache. Shortly after getting home he suffered a slight hemorrhage from which he recovered temporarily, but shortly before noon another attack came upon him and he lost consciousness. Word was about his condition was serious and that he would probably not live until night. This was a great shock to the community as Mr. Higbee has apparently been well always on the job and never complained.
Saturday his condition was reported a little better but still no hope was held for his recovery. He passed away Monday morning. Mr Higbee has been town marshal for the past seven months. He was appointed because the Village Board knew him to be a man well respected and a man upon who they could depend. He proved these qualities in the short time he served. He had been a constant resident of this community since 1892 and during that time gained many friends who will mourn his departure. He was always known as a good neighbor and friend to all. The bereave family has the heartfelt sympathy of the community.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at the house and at 2:30 at the Methodist church. Rev. Rominger delivering the funeral sermon. Interment was made in the McCoy Cemetery.
Aaron Higbee was born in Montgomery County Iowa, on October 29, 1869 and passed away at his home in Meadow Grove, November 30, 1931 at the age of 62 years, 1 month, 1 day. In 1880, when he was 11 years old, he went with his parents to Walla Walla, Washington, and came to North Bend, Nebraska in 1884. Eight years later he moved to a farm in Pierce County. In 1905 he purchased a farm northeast of Meadow Grove in Madison County where he lived until February of this year when he moved to town.
On April 14, 1898 he was united in marriage to Lucy Frost at Meadow Grove. To this union were born five sons and one daughter. When a young man he joined the Methodist Church and was always a faithful member. He was a loving and thoughtful husband and kind father.
He leaves to mourn their loss his wife and children: Tyler of Meadow Grove: Beatrice of Fall City; Homer of Topeka, Kansas: Leland of Meadow Grove; Ronald and Gordon at home; also two grandchildren and two brothers, Arthur of Meadow Grove; John of Clearwater; and one sister, Mrs Maude Moore of Johnstown as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
