Grace married Carl Winter on December 24, 1947. When Carl left for the military, she was at the Carmi depot bidding him farewell. Almost four years later, she was at that same depot when he returned and began their married life. Grace continued to support her husband throughout their working years. She worked at Ainsbrook Garment Factory and was a homemaker. Grace was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi where she was a member of the quilting group.
Surviving are her husband Carl of Carmi, a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Kathy Winter of Carmi; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Gladys Winter, two brothers, Chester and Paul K "P.K." Barbre and a daughter-in-law, Connie Winter. Funeral Services for Grace Barbre Winter, 94, of Carmi were Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi.
