Gladys Laura (Barbre) Winter, 94, Carmi, died at 9:55 p.m. Friday, July 25,
2008 at her home in Carmi.
She was born Jan. 22, 1914 in Burnt Prairie Township, the daughter of Frank
and Oma (Winter) Barbre. Mrs. Winter was a farm wife, a homemaker and had
worked as a seamstress at the Ainsbrooke sewing factory. She married Edwin
Louis Winter on Oct. 8, 1940, and he died March 20, 2008. She was a member
of Zion United Methodist Church near Carmi.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Linda Winter of Carmi; a
daughter, Aleta Winter of Carmi; two grandchildren, Brad Winter and Laura
Kopshever; a great-grandchild, Hayden Kopshever; and a sister and
brother-in-law, Grace and Carl Winter of Carmi. She was preceded in death by
her husband and two brothers, P.K. and Chester Barbre.
